Showcasing the new design for Block of the Month.

Time for an update on the new fabrics in the shop!

We have received a few new fabrics into the shop. Look for Amazing Poppies which is a poppy panel with a square of poppies set on point and several allover fabrics to match including more poppies, some paisleys in matching colours and other tone on tone fabrics.

I have also designed a Block Of The Month which we also sell as a complete kit if you want to purchase it all at once. This is called Flower Festival and uses large poppy fabrics as well as a lot of coordinating fabrics. It has nine pieced blocks which form a large star when they are all sewn together. A couple of wide borders frame the whole quilt. I have done it in burgundies and yellows with green but we also have the poppy fabric with a blue background which you can choose if you wish. We’d change the border to blue in that case.

I have also made a couple of quilts using the African Animal Panels. One is very simple, just using the large panel and framing it with a couple of gold and black borders to suit. Looks very effective though. The other one uses the large individual pictures of the animals. I’ve framed these with very narrow sashing and then put lots of half square triangles around them all, using the animal skin fabrics from the range. It highlights the picture panels nicely and makes a good size quilt.

The fabric prices keep on going up. We have had two price rises just from Benartex in the last year, so our favourite Fossil Fern fabric is getting a little dearer. The next lot is due in a month or so and this will be at the new price. There are only a few shops stocking this range in Australia now stock up to beat the price rise!

A lot of the prices have risen in the past year, I have had no choice but to pass them on to the customers. There have been so many price rises and freight charges since this pandemic began.

Even Australia Post has had a price rise. I have kept the postage prices on the website the same despite this. You may have noticed we have a flat rate of postage when you order fabric. It remains the same whether you buy 2 metres or 10! We do have different rates for wadding and backing and other things though, but even they are a flat rate also.

Until next time,
happy stitching

Time for an update on the new fabrics in the shop!

I have added a good stock of Jigsaws to the website, so there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Time for an update on the new fabrics in the shop!

We now have a large range of backing fabrics in a wide variety of colours and designs. They are all on the website so look at Subtle Paisley, Monaco, and Vine backings, among all the others!

We have some more Asian panels and some co-ordinating fabrics also. The range is called Geiko and there are 2 picture panels, the 6 pictures are the same, but the sashings are either black or cream. The matching large panel has two large Geisha girls on a blue background with some floral around them. It’s a very lovely range.

We have received 3 different ranges with horses, both panels and all over designs are included. Look for Wild Wings, Wild Free Willow Brook, and Runaway Brumbies. The Willow Brook range has been done before, this one is very similar, but the frames are different this time I think.

If you are looking for blenders or tone on tone, we have a very lovely tone on tone called Mystic Vine. We have it in all 26 colours you are sure to find something to suit!

We also have another range called Winter Wool in 20 colours as well. This looks just like the texture of woven wool and is a very useful blender.

Thera are a few others as well; I just picked a few pieces out of some of the new ranges to fill in all the colours.

Another newish range is called Black And Whites and this is a good budget price as well.

A lot of the prices have risen in the past year, I have had no choice but to pass them on to the customers. There have been so many price rises and freight charges since this pandemic began. Seems like we can blame a lot on Covid!

Even Australia Post has had a price rise this month. I have kept the postage prices on the website the same despite this. You may have noticed we have a flat rate of postage when you order fabric. It remains the same whether you buy 2 metres or 10! We do have different rates for wadding and backing and other things though, but even they are a flat rate also.

Keep those web orders coming, they are our lifeline to staying open during the lockdowns and after, as we don’t qualify for any government support. The number of hoops you need to jump through to qualify would daunt anyone. We very much appreciate all orders.

Until next time,
happy stitching

Greetings to all our fellow patchworkers.

Greetings to all our fellow patchworkers.

Just keeping in touch with all our valued customers and friends. We are continuing to be open during the current health crisis and there have been many customers glad we have been able to supply them with fabric and threads and all the other requirements they needed to sew at home during this time.

Should mention also all the embroiderers and knitters who have also stocked up on their requirements. Thank you! The DMC stand has had to restocked several times!

The Magnum 8ply and Patons baby wools have been in great demand and I have also ordered 12ply Magnum in nine colours which should be arriving any day soon. Patons have produced this yarn in response to many requests and I have purchased all the colours they are offering currently.

Many thanks to all the customers who have purchased from the website. I have been very grateful for all the support, so far we have been able to fulfill all many and varied requests. Remember any order over $100.00 before postage will receive a free magazine with the order!

A number of parcels have been slower to arrive than usual and I can only suggest that this is a result of all the extra online ordering that has been happening generally and Australia Post is struggling to keep up with the deliveries. Please be patient, your parcel will arrive! We always post the same day as the order arrives or the next business day if you order at the weekends.

I must let you know we have both black and white homespun back in stock. This has been in great demand in recent weeks and I think every wholesaler in the country must have run out too, as we could not get it at all for several weeks. However, we have good stocks of both now so there is enough for everyone again.

We have also restocked the Fossil Fern shelves as some of them were getting low on the bolt. There’s still a couple out of stock but we should be receiving those very soon.

I have been busy during this time making a lot of baby and children’s quilts. I have finished several I Spy quilts that had been waiting for quilting and also have made the Peter Rabbit and Winnie the Pooh panels into quilts for the shop. There is also a lovely panel called Sweet Dreams that I did, and this would suit either boy or girl as it is in neutral colours.

I am sure you all will have finished quilts too during this time so please take advantage of the long arm quilting service I offer and get them quilted now.

Until next time then, keep well and stay safe.

Happy Stitching from

Just wanting to keep you updated on our shop activity at the current time. Our shop will be open as usual for as long as it is lawfully possible. We have hand sanitizer and wipes ready if you wish to use them as you shop in our store.

The Remembering range is a beautiful set of fabrics commemorating the Anzacs

Greetings to all our fellow patchworkers,

We have some exciting fabrics just arrived in the shop.

The Remembering range is a beautiful set of fabrics commemorating the Anzacs. There is a panel featuring a soldier with the rising sun and the Anzac memory poem, poppies on green, cream or black as well as sandbags, barbed wire and “letters home” on cream. There is also a border with soldiers silhouetted against the sunset.

It is a very lovely range and is selling quickly. So quickly we have ordered a second lot which is due to arrive in late May. So we have stock left at the moment but if you leave it a while to order there may be a bit of a wait.

Another lovely piece is the Mountain View panel which has a few colour co-ordinates with it. This is a panel with mountains and a stream and trees in the foreground against a sunset sky. It would make a beautiful stained glass wall hanging.

We also have a new Asian range of fabrics in lovely autumn tones and I have made a kit with this one. The Range is called Zen but I have called the kit Asian Autumn as it has all those colours in it.

I hope you enjoy all these new fabrics and make beautiful quilts with them.

There are also some lovely little sewers carry boxes in the shop at the moment. These are a bit bigger than the ones we had at Christmas time and can be used for storage, display or to keep your current project in! There are 3 different designs to choose from.

In the meantime……

Happy stitching
